Bae Ho

Bae Ho, known as the "Elvis of Korean trot," was a South Korean singer born on April 20, 1942, in Shandong, China. His family moved to what would become South Korea in 1945. Bae debuted as a singer in 1963 and gained significant popularity after the release of his song "Turning around at Samgakji," which topped music charts for five consecutive months in 1967. During his career, he released about 300 songs. Bae struggled with nephritis from 1966 and passed away on November 7, 1971, at the age of 29 due to renal failure.

Though his career was short-lived, Bae Ho left a lasting impact on the South Korean music scene. His contributions to the genre are still remembered today, with a statue commemorating his biggest hit standing in front of Samgakji Station in Seoul. Despite his untimely death, his legacy endures as a pivotal figure in South Korean trot music.
