Athens Byzantine Orchestra is a Greek ensemble dedicated to preserving and performing the rich musical traditions of the Byzantine Empire. Led by conductor and musicologist Lykourgos Angelopoulos, the orchestra has been active since 1995, specializing in the interpretation of ancient Byzantine hymns and liturgical chants. Their performances are characterized by their authenticity, meticulous attention to detail, and deep understanding of the historical and cultural context of the music.
