Sleepytime Trio is a post-hardcore band that formed in 1994 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, emerging as a side project of the band Maximillian Colby. The original lineup featured Drew Ringo on guitar, Ben Davis on bass, and Jonathan Fuller on drums. After Maximillian Colby ended in 1995, guitarist Dave Nesmith joined, and Sleepytime Trio became the primary focus. They were known for their volatile, emotional sound and unpredictable live shows, often described as controlled chaos. The band toured extensively in the mid-Atlantic and beyond throughout the mid-1990s, sharing stages with notable acts in the post-hardcore and emo scenes.
The band went on hiatus in 1998 but reunited for several tours in 1999 and beyond, influencing other projects like Engine Down and Rah Bras through their members. In 2025, a comprehensive discography titled *Memory Minus Plus Minus* was released, featuring remixed and remastered versions of their studio material, celebrating their enduring legacy in the Virginia post-hardcore scene.
