Mestre Boca Rica

Mestre Boca Rica, born Manoel Silva on November 26, 1936 in Maragogipe, Bahia, is a renowned figure in the world of Capoeira Angola. He began his capoeira journey in the 1950s under the tutelage of Mestre Pastinha at the Centro Esportivo de Capoeira Angola (CECA) in Salvador. Known for his exceptional singing and berimbau playing, Boca Rica has become a highly respected master in the capoeira community.

Throughout his career, Mestre Boca Rica has traveled to over 40 countries, performed for royalty, and released more than 10 CDs. He's recognized for his deep, traditional style of singing and his expertise in various berimbau toques. At 84 years old (as of the last update), he remains active in capoeira rodas, continuing to share his knowledge and passion for this Afro-Brazilian art form.
