Nichtseattle

Nichtseattle is the musical project of Katharina Kollmann, a Berlin-based singer-songwriter born in 1985. Kollmann initially gained recognition under the name Lake Felix, but in 2017, she began writing songs in German under the moniker Nichtseattle. The name is inspired by a song by the indie band Tocotronic, "Wir sind hier nicht in Seattle, Dirk." Nichtseattle's music often explores themes of personal and societal issues, blending elements of emo and folk with poetic lyrics. Her albums include "Wendekid" (2019) and "Kommunistenlibido" (2022), the latter of which was released on the Staatsakt label and received critical acclaim for its nuanced exploration of individual and collective needs.

Nichtseattle's style is characterized by melancholic yet profound performances, often accompanied by a band featuring instruments like guitars, bass, and brass. Kollmann's music is deeply personal, reflecting her thoughts on self-care and navigating a precarious world. In 2022, Nichtseattle toured with Tocotronic, further establishing her presence in the German indie scene.
