Assassin

Assassin is a pioneering French hip-hop group formed in the late 1980s, known for their politically charged lyrics and gritty, conscious style. Founded by Rockin' Squat (Mathias Cassel) and joined by other key members over time, the group helped lay the foundations for French rap in the 1990s. They made a name for themselves with hard-hitting releases like "L'homicide volontaire" and "Touche d'espoir," often addressing issues like social inequality, racism, and government corruption.

Assassin was one of the first independent rap collectives in France, producing and releasing their music without the backing of major labels, which gave them creative freedom and a strong underground following. Over the years, their discography has included powerful live performances, rare cut compilations, and remastered editions of their classic work, cementing their reputation as one of the most influential acts in the French hip-hop scene.
