Shriekback
Shriekback is a British post-punk/new wave collective known for their dark, danceable grooves and art-rock experimentation since forming in 1981. Founded by Barry Andrews (ex-XTC, League of Gentlemen), Dave Allen (ex-Gang of Four), and Carl Marsh, the band blended funk basslines, hypnotic rhythms, and slyly intellectual lyrics about biology, mythology, and the occult. They gained traction with cult classics like *Oil and Gold* (1985) and the iconic track "Nemesis," while their ever-evolving lineup and genre-fluid approach kept their sound fresh across decades.
Though they’ve dipped in and out of activity, Shriekback resurged in the 2010s with a string of releases like *Life In The Loading Bay* and *Without Real String or Fish*, proving their signature mix of eerie atmospherics and groove-first sens
