Miklós Perényi is a renowned Hungarian cellist celebrated for his expressive depth, refined technique, and deep musical insight. Born in Budapest in 1948, Perényi showed extraordinary musical promise from a young age, studying at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and continuing his training with the legendary cellist Pablo Casals. He gained early international attention after winning a prize at the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1962.
Throughout his career, Perényi has enjoyed a distinguished solo career and collaborated with many of the world’s leading orchestras and chamber musicians. He’s particularly admired for his interpretations of the Bach Cello Suites, as well as his work in the Romantic and 20th-century repertoire. In addition to performing, he has also been an influential teacher, nurturing new generations of cellists at the Liszt Academy in Budapest. His recordings reflect his thoughtful, lyrical approach and commitment to musical integrity.
