Riky Rick
Riky Rick, born Rikhado Makhado (July 20, 1987 – February 23, 2022), was a South African rapper, songwriter, and cultural icon who blended hip-hop with local sounds to create a fresh, vibrant take on SA rap. Bursting onto the scene with his 2015 debut album *Family Values*, he became known for hits like "Nafukwa" and his unapologetic celebration of township culture. Beyond music, Riky was a fashion trailblazer and mentor to rising artists, founding Cotton Fest to spotlight young talent. His later tracks, like the soulful "You And I" with Mlindo The Vocalist and the anthemic "Stay Shining - EP," showed his knack for merging introspective lyrics with amapiano and house grooves. Though his tragic passing in 2022 left a void, Riky Rick’s legacy as a champion of South African youth culture and genre-blurring creativity remains unshakable.
