Street Sects

Street Sects is an experimental industrial punk duo from Austin, Texas, formed in 2013 by vocalist Leo Ashline and multi-instrumentalist Shaun Ringsmuth. Blending abrasive electronics, hardcore punk intensity, and noise-driven soundscapes, Street Sects have built a reputation for their aggressive sound and chaotic live performances, often accompanied by strobe lighting and unsettling visuals. Their music explores themes of addiction, personal trauma, and existential dread, earning them a dedicated following in the underground music scene.

The duo gained attention with their “Gentrification” series—an EP cycle commenting on social decay and urban transformation—before releasing their full-length debut, End Position, in 2016 on The Flenser. Subsequent releases like The Kicking Mule (2018) and continued Gentrification installments have expanded their sonic palette while maintaining their visceral, confrontational edge. With a style that defies easy categorization, Street Sects continue to push the boundaries of genre and emotional expression in heavy music.
