Thobias da Vai-Vai, born Edimar Tobias da Silva in 1958 in São Paulo, Brazil, is a renowned samba singer, actor, and former president of the Vai-Vai samba school. He began his career in samba through the Gaviões da Fiel, eventually becoming the lead singer of Vai-Vai. Under his interpretation, Vai-Vai won several championships, and he later served as the school's president from 2006 to 2010. Thobias has released several albums, including "Paulicéia," "Me Aperta Me Abraça," and "Brasil Samba Show" volumes. He is also known for his roles in films and series like "Antônia" and "O Cheiro do Ralo."
As a multifaceted artist, Thobias da Vai-Vai has contributed significantly to Brazilian music and culture. His work extends beyond music to radio hosting and acting, showcasing his versatility. He is one of the founders of the Afrobrás – Sociedade Afro-brasileira de Desenvolvimento Sociocultural and holds the position of president of honor at the UniPalmares - Universidade da Cidadania Zumbi dos Palmares.
