The Messthetics

The Messthetics are a power trio from Washington, D.C. that blends elements of jazz, punk, and funk into their own unique sound. The band is led by guitarist Anthony Pirog, who is known for his work with saxophonist Matana Roberts and drummer Mike Clark. Bassist Joe Lally, best known for his work with Fugazi, and drummer Brendan Canty, formerly of Rites of Spring, round out the trio. The Messthetics have released four albums to date, including their latest, "Anthropocosmic Nest," which was released in 2022.

The Messthetics' music is characterized by its high energy and improvisational nature. The band's live shows are known for their intensity and their ability to connect with audiences on a visceral level. The Messthetics have toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, and they have shared the stage with a wide range of artists, including Iggy Pop, Thurston Moore, and Lee Ranaldo.
