Angelcorpse is a blackened death metal band that originated in Kansas City, Missouri in 1995. The band is known for its ferocious blend of blasphemous and apocalyptic themes, high-intensity riffs, and a relentless pace that merges the brutality of death metal with the fiery, Satanic aesthetic of black metal. Formed by Pete Helmkamp and Gene Palubicki, Angelcorpse erupted onto the scene driven by their passion for extreme musical aggression and a vehement interest in occult and anti-Christians ideologies.
Throughout their active years, Angelcorpse released a series of lauded albums that cemented their position within the metal underground. "Hammer Of Gods" (1996) set the tone for their unapologetic sonic assault, followed by "Exterminate" (1998), which fanned the flames of their growing notoriety with its unrelenting speed and ferocity. The band further honed their craft with "The Inexorable" (1999), showcasing a band at the peak of its powers with complex arrangements and unyielding intensity. After disbanding in 2000, they briefly resurfaced with "Of Lucifer And Lightning" (2007), offering a mature take on their distinct sound. The compilation album "Iron Blood and Blasphemy" (2001) encapsulated the band's body of work, featuring not only tracks from previous releases but also rarities that appealed to collectors and die-hard fans. Throughout their career, albeit sporadic interruptions, Angelcorpse has remained a titan of extremity, influencing many within the realms of death and black metal.
