Dax Riggs

Dax Riggs is a musician known for his versatile voice and the haunting amalgamation of blues, rock, and soul in his music. Born on October 15, 1973, in Evansville, Indiana, Riggs rose to prominence in the early '90s as the lead singer for the sludge metal band Acid Bath, which became influential within its genre despite a relatively short lifespan due to the tragic death of bassist Audie Pitre. After Acid Bath disbanded, Riggs continued his musical journey through various projects, including Agents of Oblivion and Deadboy & the Elephantmen, where his songwriting began to shift towards a more somber, blues-infused rock sound.

Riggs' solo career, marked by a distinctive merger of gothic sensibilities with Southern gothic lyricism, began to flourish with the release of the album "We Sing of Only Blood or Love" in 2007, showcasing a more matured and refined evolution of his artistry. The 2010 follow-up "Say Goodnight to the World" further cemented Riggs' reputation as a solo artist, his deeply evocative voice layering over compelling melodies and dark, poignant lyrics that echoed themes of mortality and existential musings. Though less frequently mentioned, "If This Is Hell Then I'm Lucky," originally released in 1998 as a reworking of Acid Bath material, further exhibits the breadth of his talent and ability to reinvent and explore the depths of his musical and lyrical capabilities. Riggs continues to captivate audiences with performances that embody the raw emotional power and eclectic sound that have become his trademarks.
