Where the Waves Are Born

**Where The Waves Are Born** is a Post-Hardcore/Melodic Hardcore band from Spain. The band's name was inspired by a casual conversation about surfing, which they found profound and fitting for their musical project. Formed around 2014, the group initially drew inspiration from traditional melodic metalcore bands like August Burns Red and Killswitch Engage. However, they soon discovered the melodic hardcore movement, influenced by bands such as Counterparts and Napoleon, which led them to merge these styles into their sound. The band members have known each other for a long time, with some being childhood friends from western Asturias. Their music often explores themes of personal challenges, blending hope and despair in their lyrics.

Their recent releases include tracks like **Sundered**, **Aurora**, **Coward**, **Burden**, and **Engraved**. The band has performed at various local festivals, including a recent gig in Gijón, Asturias, alongside fellow Spanish bands. They are set to perform at events like the **Karma Fest 2024** and **Luarca Metal Days 2024**. Their sound is characterized by a mix of clean and harsh vocals, reflecting influences from modern melodic bands while maintaining their own unique personality.
