The Rossetti Ensemble, formed in 2018, is a chamber group born from longstanding collaborations between pianist John Lenehan, violinist Sara Trickey, and cellist Tim Lowe. Named after the British Pre-Raphaelite poet and artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the ensemble specializes in repertoire from the late Romantic period and early 20th century, often focusing on composers influenced by that era. Known for their flexible configurations and inventive programs, they've performed widely across the UK at festivals and major venues such as King's Place, Little Missenden, and the William Alwyn Festival.
The ensemble has gained particular recognition for their dedication to the rediscovery and performance of music by the exiled Viennese composer Robert Fürstenthal. They have recorded his complete chamber works across three acclaimed CDs released on the Toccata Classics label, bringing to life previously unrecorded sonatas and chamber pieces that showcase Fürstenthal’s lyrical style and fin-de-siècle Viennese spirit. Their performances are praised for exceptional musicianship and a passionate commitment to innovation and communication with audiences.
