Martin Riseley

Martin Riseley is a talented violinist born on February 10, 1969, in Christchurch, New Zealand. He began his violin studies at the age of six and gave his first solo concert when he was just ten years old. Riseley went on to study with renowned violinists such as Carl Pini, Dorothy DeLay, and Felix Galimir, completing his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at the Juilliard School. He has held significant positions in orchestras, including being the concertmaster of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra from 1994 to 2010 and later the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. Riseley is currently the Head of Strings (violin) at the New Zealand School of Music.

Riseley's career highlights include performing the North American premieres of several notable works, such as Gavin Bryars' *The Bulls of Bashan* and Allan Gilliland's *Violin Concerto*. While his recent releases include *Prelude (Live)*, *Ring Round the Moon*, *Lilburn: Master Works for Strings*, and *Stradivariazioni*, Martin Riseley is more recognized for his contributions as a violinist and educator in the classical music world.
