Eugenio Toussaint was a talented Mexican pianist, composer, and arranger known for his work in both jazz and classical music. Born in 1954, he played a key role in shaping the contemporary jazz scene in Mexico and was celebrated for his genre-blending compositions that often wove together jazz, Mexican folk elements, and classical traditions. As a founding member of the jazz group Sacbé, he helped elevate the presence of Latin jazz on the international stage.
Throughout his career, Toussaint remained an innovative and prolific composer, creating orchestral works, film scores, and chamber music, as well as jazz recordings. His creative spirit and technical mastery earned him respect both in Mexico and abroad. Tragically, Eugenio Toussaint passed away in 2011, but his music continues to inspire and influence new generations of musicians.
