Zé da Velha

José Alberto Rodrigues (born January 8, 1941), artistically known as Zé da Velha, is a revered Brazilian trombonist known for his significant contributions to the genres of samba and choro. Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Zé da Velha carved a niche for himself in the Brazilian music scene by channeling the joyful spirits of gafieira—a type of dance hall music—into his vibrant trombone performances.
