Artur Majewski

Artur Majewski is a Polish trumpeter, composer, and improviser born in Wrocław in 1978. He is highly regarded in the contemporary jazz and improvised music scenes, best known for his work with innovative groups such as Robotobibok and Mikrokolektyw, the latter being a duo with drummer Kuba Suchar. Throughout his career, Majewski has explored the intersections of jazz, electronic music, rock, and free improvisation, gaining widespread recognition for his adventurous and boundary-pushing approach to music.

Majewski began his musical journey studying piano before switching to trumpet at the age of 10. He graduated from the Music Academy in Katowice in 2002, with a thesis centered on avant-garde jazz trumpeter Don Cherry. He co-founded Robotobibok during his studies, a band that earned a strong following in Poland and Europe in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Beyond these ensembles, he has collaborated with a wide range of artists and has performed internationally across Europe, the USA, Japan, and Israel. His discography includes more than 15 albums released on respected labels like Delmark Records, Clean Feed, and NotTwo, reflecting his significant contribution to modern improvised music.
