U.K. was a British progressive rock supergroup formed in the late 1970s by some of the genre's most acclaimed musicians. The original lineup featured bassist/vocalist John Wetton (of King Crimson and Family), keyboardist/violinist Eddie Jobson (of Roxy Music and Frank Zappa’s band), guitarist Allan Holdsworth (Soft Machine, Gong), and drummer Bill Bruford (Yes, King Crimson). Fusing cutting-edge musicianship with elements of jazz fusion and symphonic rock, U.K. made a significant impact with their self-titled debut album in 1978, which showcased complex compositions and virtuosic interplay.
After their debut, Holdsworth and Bruford departed, and the band became a trio with Terry Bozzio (from Frank Zappa’s band) on drums. This lineup released the album Danger Money in 1979, followed by the live album Night After Night that same year. Though short-lived, U.K.'s work remains highly regarded in the prog rock community for its technical prowess and ambitious sound. The band has occasionally reunited for performances, reinforcing their legacy as one of progressive rock’s standout acts.
