**Mizmor** is the one-man heavy music project of Portland, Oregon's A.L.N., kicked off back in 2012 as a raw way to wrestle with losing his Christian faith, mental anguish, and depression—think of it like turning personal psalms (the Hebrew word "מזמור" literally means psalm or prayer) into crushing black metal and doom. What started as grappling with God evolved into deeper existential vibes about consciousness, humanity, absence of divinity, and ongoing battles with anxiety, all wrapped in a therapeutic blast of drone, funeral doom, and raw black metal intensity that fans compare to Sunn O))), Agalloch, or even Burning Witch.
A.L.N., a drummer at heart who picked up guitar to write these beasts, handles the core solo while hitting the stage with live help from Andrew Black, Jesse Shreibman, and Blake Ferrin; he's also tied to projects like Urzeit and gigs with Hell. Highlights include genre-bending albums like *Yodh* (a big breakthrough), *Cairn*, *Prosaic* (shifting to worldly empathy), collabs with Thou and MSW, and recent drops like *Alluvion*, *No Place To Arrive*, and the *Mnemonic* series—always dark, claustrophobic, and emotionally gut-punching.
