Jayson Tipp is the keyboard wizard who kicked off the contemporary jazz band **Under The Lake** nearly 30 years ago with their debut album *Dive In* in 1993, followed by *Up for Air* in 1995. Starting out with guitar and organ lessons, plus trumpet and trombone in school bands, he found his groove on keys, diving into rock, fusion, and smooth jazz vibes while building a loyal crew of collaborators—he's written or co-written about 90% of their tracks over three decades of albums, live jams, and a few hiatuses, including moves from Seattle to Portland in 2012.
After decades leading the band, Jayson stepped out solo in 2023 with his debut *Table For One*, blending funk, neo-soul, and jazz, and he's been dropping hits like *Redhead I Know*, *Memory Lane*, *Takin' Off*, and *It's Your Horizon Too* through 2025, often teaming up with pros like bassist Roberto Vally. Now in his fourth decade of music-making, this West Coast mainstay keeps the smooth jazz scene grooving with fresh, melodic energy.
