Patrizio Fariselli

Patrizio Fariselli is an Italian pianist and composer best known as a founding member of the groundbreaking 1970s progressive/jazz fusion band Area. As the group’s keyboardist, he helped shape their avant-garde sound, blending political themes with experimental jazz-rock, Mediterranean folk influences, and electronic experimentation. Fariselli’s inventive piano work became a signature element of Area’s iconic albums like *Arbeit Macht Frei* and *Crac!*, cementing their status as one of Italy’s most innovative bands of the era.

Beyond Area, Fariselli has maintained a dynamic solo career, releasing contemplative piano works like *Notturni* (2022) and *Variazioni Per Pianoforte* (2023) that showcase his classical training and improvisational flair. He’s kept Area’s legacy alive too, collaborating on projects like *Area Open Project (Live in Japan)* (2022), which reimagines the band’s catalog with new generations of musicians. His work remains a bridge between jazz exploration, contemporary composition, and the rebellious spirit of 1970s Italian prog.
