Jean-Michel Lesdel

Jean-Michel Lesdel is a musician and composer from Lamentin, Guadeloupe. He is known for his work in various musical styles, including jazz and Latin jazz, which he developed through masterclasses with artists like Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Jeff Gardner. Lesdel has a strong background in classical music, having won a first prize in organ at the Conservatoire National de la région d'Orléans in 1992. He also studied music chamber as a harpsichordist and learned composition and orchestral direction. Currently, he serves as the director of the Lamentin Music School and teaches organ and piano. His recent releases include albums like "VISIONS 2" and "Visions," showcasing his diverse musical talents.

Lesdel's music often reflects his Caribbean roots, blending traditional styles with modern influences. He has been involved with the Caribbean Jazz Group, led by saxophonist Jocelyn Ménard, further highlighting his involvement in the vibrant jazz scene of Guadeloupe. His compositions and performances are marked by a fusion of jazz, gwoka, and other local rhythms, contributing to the rich musical heritage of the region.
