Rakae Jamil

Rakae Jamil is a versatile musician known for his work with traditional and modern music styles. He began learning the sitar at the age of 12 under Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan and later studied South Asian Musicology at the National College of Arts in Pakistan. Rakae has also been involved with the Shruti-Bahar, a unique instrument designed by Raza Kazim, and has performed it at notable events. He has taught music courses at institutions like the National College of Arts and Beaconhouse National University. Rakae has collaborated with prominent groups, including Noori, and is a founding member of the instrumental supergroup Mughal-e-Funk. His recent musical endeavors include blending traditional sounds with electronic elements, as seen in his release "Je Jun," an electronic mix of a Bengali folk song.

Rakae's musical journey reflects a blend of traditional South Asian classical music and contemporary electronic influences. He continues to explore new sounds while maintaining a strong connection to his roots in classical music. His involvement with Mughal-e-Funk showcases his ability to interpret historical musical themes in a modern context.
