Amaro Dubois

Brazilian violist Amaro Dubois is a dedicated musician known for championing underrepresented composers, especially African American, Latin American, and female voices in classical music. Starting violin at age six in Brazil, he now performs as a soloist internationally and records albums that showcase this vibrant but often overlooked repertoire. His 2023 album *Luz* and earlier works highlight Latin American music for viola and piano, emphasizing his passion for expanding the viola’s musical landscape and increasing diversity in classical programming.

Beyond performing, Dubois is deeply involved in education, teaching students worldwide from early childhood through collegiate levels. He currently serves as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Georgia and maintains a private studio to nurture new talent. Playing on a rare 1850 viola made by Otto Erdesz, Dubois combines expressive artistry with a mission to inspire both audiences and fellow musicians through his recordings and performances.
