New Dada

New Dada is an Italian hip-hop crew that burst onto Rome’s underground scene in the early 1990s, blending sharp social commentary with infectious beats. Founded by rapper Piotta (Pietro Della Casa) and producer Supa (Federico Leonardis), the group became known for their genre-bending mix of rap, funk, and pop, infused with a playful, irreverent style. Their work often tackles cultural and political themes, delivered with a punchy, humorous edge that’s made them cult favorites in Italy’s alternative music landscape.

Over the years, New Dada has dropped projects like *New Dada Cantaitalia* (2004), a cheeky rework of classic Italian pop tunes, and *Batti i Pugni* (1996), a raw, early release showcasing their DIY ethos. Their self-titled album *New Dada* (1999) further cemented their reputation as pioneers of Italy’s hip-hop movement. While they’ve maintained a lower profile internationally, their collaborations with artists like Africa Unite and their role in shaping Italy’s rap scene keep them respected figures in the country’s music history.
