Goldenhorse

Goldenhorse is a New Zealand-based pop and alternative band that gained nationwide prominence in the early 2000s with their melodious harmony and folk-infused pop music. The group formed in Auckland and is best known for the charismatic voice of lead singer Kirsten Morrell, whose velvety vocals give the band's music a distinctive edge. The band members have included Geoff Maddock, who has been integral not just as a guitarist and backing vocalist, but also as a primary songwriter, Ben King on guitar, backing vocals, and songwriting input, as well as other members who contributed to their dynamic sound over the years, including bass guitarists, drummers, and keyboardists.

Goldenhorse reached a significant milestone with their 2002 self-titled EP "Goldenhorse," which built them a strong following. Their debut album "Riverhead" was released in 2003 to critical acclaim and commercial success in New Zealand, buoyed by the enchanting hit single "Maybe Tomorrow," which went on to become one of their most recognized tracks. Following their successful debut, the band released "Out of the Moon" in 2005 which featured the catchy tune "Run Run Run". Their music blends pop sensibilities with rich acoustic textures and evocative lyrics, securing their place in the tapestry of New Zealand music. Despite being relatively quiet in the music scene in recent years, Goldenhorse's earlier works continue to resonate with fans, and their contributions to the New Zealand music landscape are well remembered.
