Hinder is an American rock band that was formed in 2001 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The original lineup comprised of lead vocalist Austin Winkler, lead guitarist Joe Garvey, rhythm guitarist Mark King, bassist Mike Rodden, and drummer Cody Hanson. They burst onto the rock scene with their 2005 debut album, "Extreme Behavior," which solidified their status in the rock genre with hits like "Lips of an Angel"—a power ballad that achieved widespread popularity, charting across multiple countries and earning the band critical acclaim. Their sound is characterized by a blend of hard rock and post-grunge influences, encapsulating the essence of 2000s rock with emotionally charged lyrics and catchy hooks.
Over the years, Hinder continued to produce a slew of records that contributed to their reputation as a mainstay in modern rock music. Releases such as "The Reign" and "When The Smoke Clears" showcase their dynamic range from anthemic rock songs to more introspective and stripped-down tracks, as seen in their acoustic EP "Stripped." Despite lineup changes, most notably with the departure of Austin Winkler in 2013 and the subsequent introduction of new lead vocalist Marshal Dutton, Hinder maintained their dedicated fan base. Their more recent releases such as "Life in the Fastlane" and "UNSTOPPABLE" continue to embody the band's resilience and enduring appeal, as they remain a significant fixture in the rock music landscape with relentless touring and a commitment to their hard-rocking sound.
