Oma Hans

Oma Hans is a German punk rock band known for their energetic music and incisive socio-political lyrics. The band emerged from the ashes of the influential punk band Turbostaat's predecessor project, Exil, when they formed in 2001. Members of Oma Hans include Andreas Ness (guitar), Marten Ebsen (guitar), Peter Carstens (vocals), Torte Moritz (bass), and Thomas Götz (drums). They quickly became known in the German punk scene for their unique blend of punk rock with odd time signatures and elements of noise and sludge.

The band's discography is a reflection of their commitment to a raw and uncompromising sound. With studio albums and a reputation for thrilling live performances, Oma Hans has carved out a distinctive place in the punk music landscape. Albums such as "Trapperfieber," "Peggy," and "Bremen-Zürich-Karlsruhe" demonstrate their skill in combining driving rhythms with textured guitar work and powerful vocals. While they are not as widely known internationally, within Germany and among punk aficionados, Oma Hans holds a respected status as purveyors of pure, no-frills punk rock with a critical edge.
