Ooochie Koochie

Ooochie Koochie is a musical unit formed by Japanese artists Tamio Okuda and Koji Kikkawa. Both were born in Hiroshima in 1965 and share a common background, though their musical paths didn't cross until much later. They met again at music festivals, where they began discussing collaboration. The name "Ooochie Koochie" was chosen to reflect the idea of "far and near," symbolizing their connection to both the past and present. Their debut track, "GOLD," was released in 2025 and is inspired by the disco era of the late 1970s. The duo has since released additional songs, including "ショーラー," which is entirely in Hiroshima dialect and showcases their love for their hometown.

The unit's music is a blend of their diverse experiences, with "ショーラー" being part of their upcoming album. The music video for "ショーラー" features iconic locations in Hiroshima, highlighting their roots and connection to the city. Ooochie Koochie's music is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, reflecting the unique bond between Okuda and Kikkawa as they pay tribute to their hometown while creating new sounds for a broader audience.
