Bizarrekult

Bizarrekult is a Norwegian black metal project forged by multi-instrumentalist Roman V. (Vales) in the mid-2000s, originally rooted in Oslo’s raw, frostbitten underground scene. Blending icy tremolo riffs, haunting atmospherics, and introspective Norwegian lyrics, the project channels themes of isolation, existential dread, and humanity’s fragility against nature’s indifference. After a decade-long hiatus, Bizarrekult roared back with critically acclaimed albums like *Vi Overlevde* (2022) and *Den Tapte Krigen* (2023), which sharpened their signature sound with tighter production while keeping that signature Nordic melancholy intact.

Roman’s DIY ethos shines through—he handles vocals, guitars, and most instrumentation, crafting songs like “Midt I Stormen” and “Kongen” that balance primal aggression with eerie, almost post-metal textures. Recent releases, including a gnarly cover of Metallica’s “King Nothing” (*Kongen*), show Bizarrekult’s willingness to twist familiar ideas into frostbitten new shapes without losing their grim, introspective core.
