Cecilio Perera

Cecilio Perera is a renowned Mexican classical guitarist born in Merida, Yucatan, in 1983. He began playing the guitar at the age of nine under the guidance of his brother Pedro Perera. This early start led him to study with prominent instructors such as Ricardo Vega and later at the University of Veracruz, Xalapa, with Consuelo Bolio and Alfredo Sánchez. Perera furthered his musical education by earning a master's degree from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, where he studied with Eliot Fisk and Ricardo Gallén. He has performed with numerous orchestras worldwide, including the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra, St. Petersburg State Hermitage Orchestra, and the Cuba National Orchestra. Perera's repertoire spans renaissance to contemporary music, and he has collaborated with esteemed composers who have dedicated works to him.

Throughout his career, Cecilio Perera has won numerous prestigious awards in international guitar competitions, including first prizes at the Michele Pittaluga International Guitar Competition, the VII International Guitar Competition Jose Tomas, and the III Boston International Guitar Competition. His latest recordings include albums such as "Guitar Music of Mexico" and "México por Ti Mi Corazón," showcasing his versatility in Latin American classical guitar music. Currently, he serves as an assistant to Eliot Fisk at the Mozarteum University, further solidifying his contributions to the classical music world.
