Michelle Willson is a gifted swing and jump blues vocalist from the Boston area. She began her career as a teenager, fronting bands and eventually winning significant recognition in the blues scene. Willson burst onto the scene in the early 1990s, winning the annual Blues talent competition at Harpers Ferry and later the national title in Memphis. This led to a record contract with Rounder Records, under which she released four critically acclaimed albums. Her music is renowned for its intensity and passion, and she has toured internationally, performing with notable musicians like Anthony Geraci and the Boston Blues All Stars and appearing on recordings with Duke Robillard.
Known as "Evil Gal," a moniker inspired by Dinah Washington's "Evil Gal Blues," Michelle Willson has also been recognized for her live performances, including a live album titled "Fortune Cookie" recorded at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston. Additionally, she has hosted radio programs and continues to engage with music as a passionate bandleader and songwriter.
