Eddy Current Suppression Ring is an acclaimed garage rock band hailing from Melbourne, Australia. Formed in 2003, the band came together somewhat by chance during an impromptu jam session at a Christmas party. The members quickly recognized their chemistry and chose to pursue music more seriously, eventually solidifying their lineup with Brendan Suppression (Brendan Huntley) on vocals, Eddy Current (Mikey Young) on guitar, Rob Solid (Brad Barry) on bass, and Danny Current (Danny Young) on drums. Known for their raw energy, straightforward punk influences, and unpretentious approach to music, Eddy Current Suppression Ring has captured the hearts of underground rock enthusiasts.
The band's self-titled debut album "Eddy Current Suppression Ring" was released in 2006 and was followed by their breakthrough record, "Primary Colours", in 2008, which earned them widespread critical acclaim and a nomination for the Australian Music Prize, which they won. "Rush to Relax" came out in 2010, further cementing their status in the garage rock scene with its compelling mix of punk-infused melodies and socially aware lyricism. Although they took a hiatus, the band’s magnetic pull remained, evidenced by the 2019 release of "All in Good Time", a triumphant return that undeniably continued their legacy. On top of this, the compilation album "So Many Things" gathered various singles and rarities, offering deeper insight into their ample range and the unvarnished aesthetic that has characterized their career.
