3rd Bass was a hip-hop trio from New York City, active from 1987 to 1992. The group consisted of MC Serch, Pete Nice, and DJ Richie Rich. They were known for their humorous and socially conscious lyrics, as well as their innovative use of samples. Their debut album, "The Cactus Album," was a critical and commercial success, and they followed it up with two more albums, "Derelicts of Dialect" and "Cactus Revisited." 3rd Bass broke up in 1992, but they reunited briefly in 2007 for a series of live shows.
