Jade Warrior

Jade Warrior is an eclectic band that emerged from the fertile musical ground of the early 1970s, known for a unique blend of progressive rock, world music, and jazz elements. The band was formed by Jon Field, a flautist, percussionist, and keyboardist, and Tony Duhig, a guitarist whose innovative approach to string instruments shaped the group's distinctive sound, complemented by Glyn Havard on bass and vocals. With diverse influences and a desire to create atmospheres rather than just songs, Jade Warrior's sound often evoked the spirit of Eastern and African landscapes while maintaining a rock sensibility.

Their early work in the '70s, epitomized by "Released" and "Last Autumn's Dream", was revered for its pioneering fusion of ethnic sounds with rock, leading them to sign with Island Records where they released a series of critically acclaimed albums. After a hiatus following Tony Duhig's passing in 1990, Jon Field rekindled the Jade Warrior flame with new collaborators, resulting in works like "Breathing The Storm" and "Distant Echoes" which showed a matured exploration of their signature style. The latest retrospectives, such as "Eclipse & Fifth Element: The 1973 Recordings (2023 Remaster)", showcase the rich tapestry of their music and the remastery of their sonic legacy for new generations to appreciate the enigmatic allure of Jade Warrior's timeless compositions.
