Evgeni Koroliov

Evgeni Koroliov is a renowned Russian pianist celebrated for his profound interpretations of Johann Sebastian Bach. Born in Moscow in 1949, Koroliov studied under distinguished teachers such as Heinrich Neuhaus and Maria Yudina, and developed a style marked by clarity, depth, and intellectual rigor. He has built a devoted following thanks to his performances and recordings of Bach’s keyboard works, with many critics praising his singular ability to convey the spiritual and structural richness of the music.

Although Koroliov has performed a wide range of repertoire—from Scarlatti and Mozart to Schubert and Ligeti—his Bach recordings, especially those in the long-running "Koroliov Series" on the TACET label, are particularly acclaimed. Titles such as The Well-Tempered Clavier and the Goldberg Variations have earned him high praise for their purity and insight. Koroliov continues to perform internationally and also teaches at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, where he has mentored a new generation of pianists.
