Dan Stuart is an American singer-songwriter best known as the frontman of the influential 1980s alt-country rock band Green on Red. Emerging from the Paisley Underground scene in Los Angeles, Stuart and Green on Red blended roots rock, punk energy, and storytelling lyricism to critical acclaim. After the band dissolved in the early ‘90s, Stuart stepped back from the spotlight before re-emerging with a series of solo releases under the alter ego Marlowe Billings, a character that blends autobiography and fiction.
Outside of his solo records like The Deliverance of Marlowe Billings and Marlowe’s Revenge, Stuart has also dabbled in writing, contributing memoirs and novels that expand on his Marlowe Billings persona. His work continues to resonate with fans of raw, honest Americana and literary songwriting, marking him as a cult favorite in the broader roots rock movement.
