Dollar Brand, also known as Abdullah Ibrahim, is a legendary South African pianist, composer, and bandleader. Born in Cape Town in 1934, he began playing piano at a young age and quickly developed a unique style that blended traditional African rhythms with jazz and classical influences. In the 1960s, he gained international recognition for his groundbreaking album "Mannenberg," which became a symbol of the anti-apartheid movement. Throughout his career, Ibrahim has released numerous critically acclaimed albums and performed with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Duke Ellington, Max Roach, and John Coltrane. His music continues to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
