Marcel Grandjany (1891–1975) was an acclaimed French-American harpist and composer, renowned for his refined technique and his contributions to the repertoire and pedagogy of the harp. Born in Paris, Grandjany showed musical promise from a young age, studying at the Paris Conservatoire under the tutelage of influential harpist Alphonse Hasselmans. He emerged from the conservatoire a prodigious talent, immediately embarking on a successful career as a concert harpist. In 1915, Grandjany moved to the United States, where he would become a significant figure in the American harp community, serving on the faculty of the Juilliard School and influencing generations of harpists through his teachings and performances.
Grandjany's contributions to the harp literature are notable, blending romanticism with impressionistic textures.
