Das Pop

Das Pop is an eclectic Belgian indie pop band that emerged from the fertile music scene of Ghent in the late 1990s. Initially drawing attention with their melodic guitar pop and catchy hooks, the group consists of Reinhard Vanbergen, Niek Meul, Lieven Moors, and frontman Bent Van Looy. They first rose to prominent acclaim with the release of their debut album “I Love” in 2000, which gave them a solid foundation in the European music landscape. Their self-titled album “Das Pop,” released in 2009, further showcased their ability to blend infectious pop sensibilities with a polished production, cementing their status as a mainstay of European indie pop.

Over the years, Das Pop has shown versatility in their sound, often experimenting with electronic elements and broader sonic textures. Albums like “The Love Program” from 2011 saw the group delving deeper into these experimentations, displaying a mature grasp of synth-pop infused tunes with lyrical introspection. Despite their evolution in style, Das Pop has remained committed to their core identity of crafting music with an irresistible pop charm. With a discography that includes attention-grabbing tracks such as "Saturday Night" and "Electronica for Lovers," Das Pop continues to demonstrate a passion for creating music that resonates with a diverse audience, combining ear-catching melodies with an elegant mix of traditional and electronic instrumentation.
