Elisa Waut

Elisa Waut is a Belgian synthpop band that emerged in the 1980s, centered around siblings Hans and Elsje Helewaut, along with bassist Chery Derycke. The group gained significant recognition after winning Humo's Rock Rally in 1984. Their music style blended sensitive pop with a touch of jazz, and they released several albums, including "Elisa Waut" (1985), "Growing Pain" (1986), "Commedia" (1987), and "Bloom Boom" (1989). After a hiatus, they released more spiritual and transcendent albums like "Angelus" (1995) and "Mystica" (1998). In recent years, Elsje Helewaut has collaborated with Rudolf Hecke on singles like "Let's not give a damn" (2015) and "Love rears" (2020), while also releasing "Portraits And Landscapes" in 2015.

Elsje Helewaut has also been involved in other projects, such as the band Ark, which focuses on spiritual music. She and her partner Chery Derycke run a bed and breakfast called "Ark van Zarren" and have a shop in Brugge. Despite their early success, Elisa Waut's career was marked by rapid transitions from small gigs to larger venues, leaving little time for gradual growth. However, their return to music has been welcomed, and they continue to contribute to the Belgian music scene with their unique sound.
