Masters of Reality, an American rock band, was formed in 1981 by singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Chris Goss and guitarist Tim Harrington in Syracuse, New York. Named after the third album of heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath, Masters of Reality have a sound that is a unique, eclectic blend of hard rock, blues, psychedelia, and other genres. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1988, gained them critical recognition, and despite lineup changes, the core of their work continues to be influenced by Goss's vision and distinctive vocal style.
Their subsequent releases further established the band’s legacy within the rock music scene. "Sunrise on the Sufferbus," released in 1992, featured Ginger Baker of Cream fame on drums, which brought an added layer of rhythmic complexity and notoriety to the group. "How High The Moon: Live At The Viper Room," which came out in 1997, showcased the band's dynamic live performance at the famous West Hollywood club. Their latest studio album, "Pine/Cross Dover," was released in 2009, continuing to explore and refine their sound with deep grooves and expansive, experimental rock movements. Despite not being a household name, Masters of Reality has maintained a devoted fan base and has influenced many artists within the stoner rock and alternative metal scenes.
