Scorpion Tea

Scorpion Tea is an experimental death rock band based in New York City, formed by drummer Edley ODowd (formerly of Psychic TV and Toilet Boys) alongside songwriter Christian Cruz, bassist Fern Puma, and lyricist Anthony Diaz. The band emerged after ODowd took time to grieve the passing of cultural icon Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, reconnecting with collaborators to create a sound they describe as “a band of monsters playing broken instruments,” blending elements of punk, goth, and death rock.

Their music features dark, atmospheric textures with intense emotional expression, reflected in releases like their self-titled 2023 album and tracks including "In a Vile Suit," "Scarlet Misquote," and "They’re Thriving Without Us." They carry forward a legacy of underground experimental music while crafting something fresh and raw, making them a notable project in the death rock and post-punk scenes.
