Tallah

Tallah is a Philadelphia-based nu-metalcore band that erupted onto the scene with their chaotic blend of aggression, storytelling, and genre-defying experimentation. Formed in 2018, the group features vocalist Justin Bonitz (known for his hyper-expressive screams and clean vocals), drummer Max Portnoy (son of Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy), guitarist Derrick Schneider, bassist Andrew Cooper, and later-added guitarist Alex Snowden. Their sound mashes nu-metal’s raw angst with metalcore’s precision and theatrical flourishes, creating a frenetic vibe that’s earned them a cult following.

The band made waves with their 2020 debut concept album *Matriphagy*, a dark narrative about trauma and rebellion, followed by 2022’s *The Generation of Danger*, which expanded their chaotic storytelling with tracks like “Hard Knock” and the apocalyptic scope of the title track. Known for Bonitz’s unhinged stage presence and their chaotic live energy, Tallah embraces themes of mental turmoil, societal decay, and raw emotion, packaging it all into a sonic tornado that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking. Their recent releases, like “For The Recognition,” continue to push boundaries, cementing their reputation as modern metal’s wildcard innovators.
