Sepultura is a Brazilian heavy metal band that has become one of the most influential and respected acts in the metal community since their formation in Belo Horizonte in 1984. The band was originally founded by brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, who were joined by Paulo Jr. and Jairo Guedz. Sepultura's sound evolved greatly over the years, from their early death/thrash metal offerings to incorporating elements of groove, hardcore, and even tribal and industrial influences, defying easy categorization and establishing their unique identity in the metal world.
Throughout their prolific career, Sepultura has released a series of groundbreaking albums that have left an indelible mark on the metal genre. Key releases such as "Beneath the Remains" and "Arise" solidified their place in the metal pantheon, but it was their 1996 album "Roots" that broke new ground with its experimental approach, incorporating Brazilian rhythms and instruments. Despite line-up changes over the years, including the exit of the Cavalera brothers, Sepultura endures, with bassist Paulo Jr. remaining as the constant member. Vocalist Derrick Green and guitarist Andreas Kisser have been instrumental in their later-era stability and success, with albums like "Quadra" (2020) and "Machine Messiah" (2017) proving that Sepultura has the ability to innovate and inspire, even decades into their storied career. Their commitment to their artistry is evident in the live performances and remastered releases that continue to captivate audiences worldwide, as showcased by "Live in São Paulo" (2022 - Remaster) and the fan-favorite "Kairos (Live At Wacken, 2018)".
