Mani Padme Trio

Mani Padme Trio is a standout group in Brazilian jazz, formed in 2002 and known for blending Cuban and Brazilian musical influences in a fresh, innovative way. The trio features Cuban pianist Yaniel Matos, bassist Sidiel Vieira, and drummer Ricardo Mosca. Their music goes beyond the typical Latin-jazz trope, skillfully mixing samba, salsa, European jazz, and New York jazz styles to create a unique sound that reflects the vibrant rhythms and colors of São Paulo, where they record. The trio's name is inspired by the sacred Tibetan Buddhist mantra "Om mani padme hum," symbolizing a spiritual quest for compassion and wisdom that resonates through their music.

Their discography includes acclaimed albums like "Um Dia de Chuva" (2004), "Depois" (2008), and their latest work "Vôo" (2023). Yaniel Matos, also active as a professor and collaborator with other renowned Brazilian musicians, founded the trio and continues to drive its soulful and sophisticated jazz explorations. Mani Padme Trio’s music offers an intimate dialogue between their instruments, connecting deeply with listeners and delivering a rich experience informed by two distinct cultures and a shared spirit of jazz improvisation.
