Cheater Slicks

Cheater Slicks are a raw, no-frills garage rock band that formed in Boston in 1987 before relocating to Columbus, Ohio. Known for their abrasive sound and punk-infused energy, they’ve carved out a cult following with their stripped-down, fuzz-drenched guitar work and raucous live performances. The band originally formed as a trio with brothers Tom and Dave Shannon on guitar and Dana Hatch on drums and vocals, sticking with a guitar-only format—often foregoing a bass player to maintain their signature lo-fi, confrontational edge.

Over the years, Cheater Slicks have built an impressive discography, including fan-favorite albums like “Don’t Like You” (originally released in 1995 and reissued for its 30th anniversary) and “Ill-Fated Cusses.” Their music pulls from the roots of garage rock and adds layers of swampy psych, proto-punk grit, and relentless attitude. Despite staying largely under the mainstream radar, Cheater Slicks have remained a vital and influential force in underground rock circles for decades.
